40thAnnual General Assembly of NRCS Kathmandu DC was successfully hosted by NRCS Baneshwor Sub-Chapter at Kwality Banquet, Buddhanagar, Kathmandu on 1st  February 2020. Altogether 155 participants representing local authorities, organizations, councilors of various Sub-Chapters and representatives of J/YRC circles were present in the program.

Major highlights of the program:

The program was chaired by Mr. Mathura Ram Shrestha, chairperson of Nepal Red Cross Society kathmandu District Chapter and inaugurated by the chief guest, mayor of kathmandu metropolitan city Mr. Bidhya Sundar Shakya and special guest secretary general of Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) Mr. Dev Ratna Dhakwa. NRCS Baneshwor Sub-Chapters president Mr. Shanta Pradhan delivered his welcome remarks.

In the opening session of the Annual General Assembly, Mr. Manoj Kumar Thapa – chairperson of NRCS Bhaktapur District Chapter, Mr. Hari Prasad Neupane – Deputy Secretary General of NRCS, Mr. Mukund Bahadur Pradhan – Past President of NRCS Kathmandu DC and Mr. Ramjee Paudel – Secretary, Bagmati Province (Province State no 3) delivered their remarks. In the same program a souvenir book namely “Kathmandu Red Cross” was also inaugurated to commemorate golden jubilee by the hand of chief guest Mr. Bidhya Sundar Shakya, scholarships were handed over to the one student of 10 community schools within the kathmandu district, the staffers of NRCS kathmandu DC were also honored with medals and certificate for their dedicated and continuous support and the sub-chapters were also provided with certificate of appreciation for their humanitarian service and support to district chapter in conducting various programs during the celebration of district chapter’s 50 golden jubilee (2026-2076 B.S.). The opening session was closed with the remarks of chairperson – NRCS Kathmandu DC.

The closing session was started upon the confirmation of majority members i.e. councilors of Sub-Chapters and approving the agenda of the AGM. Three councilors of each sub-chapter were called as per the statute of NRCS, altogether 66 councilors and members were present during the closing session. Mr. Shyam Kaji Dotel, Secretary – NRCS Kathmandu DC shared the program report of the past fiscal year along with the current fiscal year programs till date and program plans for the remaining period of the fiscal year. Similarly, Mr. Laxmi Ratna Tuladhar, Treasurer – NRCS Kathmandu DC shared the financial report of the past fiscal year and estimated budget for the programs of remaining period of fiscal year. Assembly members after the discussion on various matters approved the reports.

The session was closed by the remarks of NRCS Kathmandu DC president Mr. Mathura Ram Shrestha.

Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for the construction of NRCS Kathmandu District Chapter Warehouse and Training Center

NRCS Kathmandu District Chapter organized Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for the construction of Disaster Management Equipment Warehouse and Training Center at Kirtipur Municipality. The Inauguration ceremony was proceeded by Mayor Mr. Ramesh Maharjan, Deputy Mayor Mrs. Sarswoti Khadka, Chairperson of Ward no 4 Mr.Rajendra Baniya of Kirtipur Municipality along with the Chairman of Nepal Red Cross Society, National Headquarters Mr. Sanjiv Thapa and President of NRCS Kathmandu DC in the presence of Treasurer of NRCS Mr. Devendra Bahadur Pradhan, President of NRCS Bhaktapur DC Mr. Manoj Kumar Thapa, President of NRCS Lalitpur DC Mr. Babu Raja Maharjan, Executive Director of NRCS Mr. Umesh Prasad Dhakal, NRCS Kathmandu DC executive members, representatives of Sub-Chapters, volunteers, members, local representatives and social workers. Kirtipur Municipality have provided 2 Ropani of land to NRCS Kathmandu DC for the construction. Around 4 Crore have been estimated to construct highly facilitated building for the purpose of warehouse and training center.

More than 150 participants representing local authorities, organizations, councilors of various Sub-Chapters were present in the program.

Major highlights of the program:

The program was chaired by Mr. Shyam Kaji Dotel, President of Nepal Red Cross Society kathmandu District Chapter and inaugurated by the special guest, Deputy mayor of kirtipur metropolitan city Mrs. Subha Laxmi Shakya and founder member of Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) Dr. Gauri Shankar Lal Das. NRCS Kirtipur Sub-Chapters president Mr. Sanjiv Basnet delivered his welcome remarks.

In the opening session of the Annual General Assembly, Mr. Rajendra Baniya – Deputy Secretary of NRCS Bagmati Province, Mr. Parshu Ram Pandey – Secretary of NRCS Bhaktapur DC, Mr. Mukund Bahadur Pradhan – Past President of NRCS Kathmandu DC and Mr. Nabin Manandhar – Speaker, kathmandu metropolitan city delivered their remarks. In the opening session of the assembly election officers who’ve successfully contributed in the election of the sub-chapter’s were honored with certificates from the hands of chief guest Mrs. Subha Laxmi Shakya, financial support of NPR 1,00,000/- was handed over to NRCS Sankharapur Sub-Chapter for the addition of a floor in the sub-chapters building. The opening session was closed with the remarks of Mr. Bishnu Man Manandhar Deputy President of NRCS Kathmandu DC.

In the same session annual financial support of NPR 15,000/- was handed over to all the sub-chapters by Mr. Briddhi Man Shakya, Secretary – NRCS Kathmandu DC.

The session was closed by the remarks of NRCS Kathmandu DC Deputy president (Female) Mrs. Anjana Maskey.
